Putien Eel Festival @ PUTIEN 莆田, Gurney Paragon Mall

It is the new quarter again and PUTIEN just recently launched their new promotions and this time they are featuring the live eel cooking in conjunction with PUTIEN Eel Festival. You will get to enjoy not only the best taste of eel but also the freshest because all ingredients are freshly flown-in by Putien.

Eel has been a popular dish among Asians and Unagi is the most common Asian's favourite from Japan. Little did we know that we can also cook eel in Chinese style and it has been implemented by PUTIEN Malaysia.

Special thanks to PUTIEN Malaysia for inviting us bloggers to try out the new menu.

Basically, there are two ways of cooking the live eel, but worry not because they won't do it in front of you.
This ensures the freshness of the eel and also it gives you the freshest taste of eel so you can enjoy it completely.

1. Pan-fried Live Eel on Hot Plate 铁板香煎活鳗鱼
(RM79.90)
This way of cooking eel not only you can taste the freshness of the fish but also removes the fishy taste and leaves you with the fragrant of char-grilled on the outer later of the fish.
The eel itself is quite chewy and then you can further squeeze some fresh lemon juice onto it to make it taste more refreshing and makes it more delicious too. Everything will be prepared from the kitchen so you don't have to worry about it.
I personally prefer this way of cooking eel and it is great if we can go with a glass of wine / beer with this dish.

2. Live Eel Cooked in Natural Spring Water 泉水现煮活鳗鱼
(RM79.90)

To savour eel the best way is of course to cook it under clear water. You will get to taste not only it's freshness but also you will get to watch the live cooking in front of you.
Worry not because they will not kill the eel in front of you, they will prepare everything and only do the cooking beside your table like a tableside service.
The fresh eel was cooked under the spring water that harvested from nature spring and that is how the locals Putien enjoy it.
They will only cook the eel for 14 minutes, and that's the best timing to ensure you a chewy and smooth texture of the eel and also it does not lose its nutrients.

Also, PUTIEN will add some salt and herbal to make the soup even nicer when it is served.
I would say that the soup is slightly sweet and you can tell how good the eel is when it is freshly served to you.

Also, we had some of the all-time favourites from local market.
The Iced Bitter Gourd(RM12.90) served with honey, my favourite and it is also the best appetizer.

Braised Pig Intestines(RM18.90) is also the best seller with PUTIEN's cooking style where they wash it thoroughly for 3 hours and then use 12 types of spices to braise it.
Not only the pig intestines here are tender but also it completely eliminated the awful taste of it.

Cold Pork Trotters Jelly(RM15.90)

Stir Fried Yam (RM20.90)
Love it as you can taste the yam and it is crispy on the outside and soft inside.

Deep Fried Chicken with Garlic

A must when you visit Putien Malaysia, the Spinach in Supreme Stock.

Stir Fried Chilli Clams

As a token of appreciation to all PUTIEN customers, PUTIEN Malaysia is now serving their homegrown longan imported directly from China to all customers.
It is available in all outlets and stocks are limited, so don't be hesitate and head over to any Putien to try it now.
