Ipoh Onn Kee Tauge Ayam (怡保安记牙菜鸡) is now in Gurney Paragon Mall Penang!

One of the dishes that made Ipoh famous would be non other that Bean Sprouts Chicken and particularly Ipoh Onn Kee or Lou Wong Ipoh. In this recent years, you don't have to drive all the way to Ipoh anymore to enjoy their signature dishes now that they have expanded to other states as well.

Craving for authentic Ipoh flavours? Fret not because because Ipoh Onn Kee Bean Sprouts Chicken just opened its new outlet at the lower ground floor of Gurney Paragon Mall Penang. Ipoh Onn Kee Tauge Ayam is the newly joined tenant in Gurney Paragon Mall and specialised in their Bean Sprouts Chicken, Chicken Rice & Ipoh Shredded Chicken Hor Fun. However, the price of this restaurant is on the higher side and may not be so pocket friendly to everyone.

油米饭 Chicken Rice - RM2.50
I would say that I'm a big fan of chicken rice and particularly the rice itself. I love the fragrant rice used in chicken rice dish but sadly most chicken rice stall in Penang do not really focus on making good fragrant rice. This one really got me liking even though it is quite costly for a bowl of rice.

姜蓉胡须鸡 1/4 Ginger Beard Chicken - RM25.00
Their Ginger Sauce is one of their signature and also best seller. Most importantly is their homemade ginger sauce that tasted so flavourful and perfect to go with the Beard Chicken which was juicy and succulent. If you are a ginger lover, this is definitely the dish to order.

招牌酱油肉鸡 1/4 Signature Soy Sauce Meat Chicken - RM17.00
Fancy something basic? Go for their Signature Soy Sauce Chicken and pair it with a bowl of Chicken Rice would be perfect. The soy sauce wasn't super salty but it is also with tad bit of sweetness which makes the whole dish flavourful. You will definitely love how the braised chicken was perfectly done if you liked plain steamed chicken.

怡保沙河粉咖喱 Ipoh KueTiao Curry - RM5.50
Had to say this is one of the most disappointing Curry Hor Fun I've tasted before. The taste was none like any I've tried in Ipoh and it was just like adding sambal or chili bowl to their chicken soup.

怡保鸡丝河粉 Ipoh KueTiao Soup with Chicken Slices and Prawn - RM17.00
Like how the menu was mentioned, there was only one prawn available in this bowl of HorFun(not sure why they call it KueTiao). The flavour was quite authentic like the one I had in Ipoh and I kinda love this bowl of HorFun though I find the prawn is not necessary or it would even be better if they use smaller sliced shrimps like how most Ipoh restaurants did.

精选芽菜 Bean Sprouts - RM8.00(small)
I'm a big fan of Ipoh Bean Sprouts where the Bean Sprouts grow in Ipoh are really good, crunchy and juicy.
I'm glad that they use Ipoh Bean Sprouts here so we Penangites can taste the best of Ipoh.

So, would you pay RM80+ for this meal?
For me it is still yes but maybe not as often as I dine in other restaurants. I could have order a main course for myself with that kind of pricing in other cafe / restaurants.
What I do not like about this place is they do not have like a Chicken Rice set or Noodle set, or maybe they have but we were not offered with the menu.
Overall the food quality do satisfied me and everything was great except the Curry HorFun(KueTiao)
