KOTA Dine & Coffee, When Francis Meets Rempah @ Fort Cornwallis Penang

There are so many creative ideas came up in Penang.
Recently, I've seen some people posted up about a restaurant named KOTA.
The name itself have attracted me, KOTA is referring to Fort in Malay language.
But when I found out the full name of the restaurant was KOTA Dine & Coffee, When Francis Meets Rempah, that's when I thought this cafe is really something special. Rempah is actually referring to spices & herbs in Malay language, which indicates that the whole concept of the cafe would be referring to dishes that prepared with herbs and spices.

KOTA, When Francis Meets Rempah is located INSDE of Fort Cornwallis, one of the biggest fort in Malaysia that still standing in Penang. It is also one of the historical building that attracted a lot of visitors daily.
It was built in the late 18th century in Penang that was initially planned to protect Penang from pirates and Kedah. But in the end, the fort was never engaged in the battle.
It is located at the northeast of Penang, which is somewhere near the Penang Jetty.

Fort Cornwallis is still standing and now a popular tourist attraction in Penang

Halloween Buffet Dinner @ J-Garden Dining Restaurant, Penang Bay Avenue

Being one of the extraordinary restaurants, J-Garden Dining Restaurant serves Western style Japanese food instead of the typical Japanese food in Penang. In short, it is known as Japanese's western food.

J-Garden is located at Bay Avenue, one of the busiest areas around Bayan Baru near Queensbay Mall. Instead of the authentic or traditional Japanese cuisine, J-Garden go for Western Japanese cuisine instead to attract different crowd to their restaurant. The location of J-Garden is not visible from the main road because it is off Persiaran Bayan Indah, you will find it right behind Eastin Hotel.

If you were to head to Eastin Hotel, you will be able to see J-Garden located on your left.

PG Gold Museum (Public Gold) @ Bishop Street, Penang

Being the one and only GOLD museum in Penang, Public Gold Museum is now opened at Bishop Street, Penang. One of the busiest street during the weekdays at George Town area.
This museum is located right next a Public Bank branch, where they will have Public Gold trades during weekdays while the museum will be opened everyday including Public Holidays.

It was a fine Sunday afternoon that the famous blogger Valyn Lim from www.valynlim.com came to find me for lunch. And it so happens that I was planning to visit this Gold Museum on that day itself, so in the end I pulled Valyn Lim to join me along for the museum tour.

PG Gold Museum is rather visible along Bishop Street, if you are standing at the side of St.George's Church, you will be able to see the museum within your sight.

The museum opened up somewhere in January 2015 hence it pretty fresh to the locals and also foreigners if you have not visit Penang for quite some time. During weekdays, the building will be busy doing gold trades for all the investors who invested in Public Gold fund, while the museum is opened daily from 9:00am to 6:00pm including Public Holidays

Orient Fitness Gold @ Gurney Paragon Mall, Penang

My blog is always about food and eating all around Penang.
Sometimes I do get very health-concerned and my friends do asked me how do I maintain my health and body even I am a big appetite person and I eat so much.
My answers are all the same, go to the gym, workout  harder.
The more I eat, the harder I workout, the longer time I spent at the gym.

Not many big fitness centre in Penang that could offer good pricing and comes with wide range of equipments and fitness classes, but Orient Fitness do.
Orient Fitness Gold is one of the latest fitness centres that popped up in Penang. It is located at one of the most iconic shopping malls in Penang, Gurney Paragon Mall.

As one of the biggest tenants of Gurney Paragon Mall, Orient Fitness Gold has taken up quite some space of the mall located on the 6th floor, other tenants on the same floor would be Sushi Zanmai, Pasta Zanmai, Brown Pocket and many more.

A picture taken during the Grand Opening, and I dropped by to look around.

Koay Teow Th'ng @ Lebuh Melayu, Penang

Being one of the Kochabi in Penang, this Koay Teow Th'ng stall has been selling Koay Teow Soup around the neighborhood for thirty over years at Lebuh Pantai (Beach Street) off the junction of Lebuh Melayu.

Recommended by the famous food blogger CK Lam from www.what2seeonline.com/
I was eager to try it out for quite some time as I'm someone who is really into hawker food in Penang. I have also drove passed this stall for many times before I have finally tried it myself.

A photo posted by JJ Jason™ (@jjzai) on

I've order a bowl of Koay Teow Soup (Large) for RM4.00 and another bowl was mixed innards (chicken gizzard, pork intestines) and some blanched choy sum for another RM3.70. The total was RM7.70 and I was really full as the portion was really big.
One big focus would be the comfort broth that boiled with chicken and pork bones that made it tasted rather rich and flavorful. The fragrant garlic oil, fried garlic and lards are also some of the important ingredients that made up this bowl of delicious koay teow soup, you may consider to ask for more lards if you are one lard lovers like me. But please be moderate on taking lards for health purpose.

There are so many hidden eateries in Penang that made this state so special. This stall is only one of the many. Despite being hidden in one of the most quiet street in Penang, this stall is still full of customers even late at night. You may consider coming to this place for dinner or supper.

Pink Elephant Ice Cream @ Queensbay Mall Penang

I still remember when I saw some of these interesting videos on Facebook and I'm really attracted to this Fried Ice Cream, which is one of the famous Thai desserts that I have been looking for.

And then I was hoping that I can find it when I go to Hat Yai during May 2015.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find any stalls selling the fried ice cream despite I was there searching for 4 days.
In the end, I was back with disappointment as people kept telling me that I should have that fried ice cream thingy if I were to go to Thailand.

Recently, I've heard that Queensbay Mall has opened up a rather interesting stall selling special kind of ice cream.
At first I thought it was just some kind of ordinary ice cream that selling rather common ice cream, or it could be special with some different flavours or what.
What really surprised me was when I found that that they are selling Fried Ice Cream
And it's from Thailand! That got me rather excited and desperate to try it out!
