Comfort in Every Slurp – Wufoo Hokkien Prawn Noodle Hits the Spot
When it comes to Penang’s iconic food, Hokkien Mee (aka prawn noodle) is always top of mind. But if you think you’ve tried them all, hold up — let me introduce you to a place that really stands out: Wufoo Hokkien Prawn Noodle · Lor Mee (五福炭香福建虾面·卤面).

Located in Lebuh Katz(which moved from Lebuh Presgrave), Wufoo serves up hearty bowls of Hokkien Mee and Lor Mee with that extra touch — charcoal-grilled ingredients and rich, deeply flavoured broth that will have you finishing the bowl right down to the last drop.
Wufoo was founded in 1986, the first generation that runs a small stall in Gat Lebuh Presgrave and the owner insisted on using charcoal to cook. Hence the legacy remains up until today, where they are still cooking with the same method to maintain its original taste of hokkien prawn noodle, which is filled with aromatic prawn broth.

There are instructions on how to order before you walk into the restaurant. Two types of broth so either you go with the prawn broth, or the thick "loh" which is a starchy broth or you can try the very local version which is the mixture of both, my personal liking too.

Unlike other Hokkien Mee Stalls, Wufoo offers a wide variety of add-on ingredients for diners to make your bowl of Hokkien Mee into a pot of all our favourite ingredients.

Roast Pork, my all time favourite with the crispy skin. |

I always go for their "Hokkien Loh", which is the mixture of prawn broth and thick starchy dark soy soup which is also Penangites' style of enjoying it (up to personal preferences)
My favourite sides would be soft bones, roast pork, some pork intestines and skin which makes up a great bowl of Hokkien Mee.

If you are into basic, you could have just order a bowl of normal Hokkien Mee from them, which is only RM7 per bowl. I usually like my hokkien mee and loh mee without chili and without garlic, it is just my personal preferences.
Instead of the usual Green House / Old Green House Hokkien Mee, you now have an additional option available in Penang. This place is by far only popular among the locals and not really well known to tourists yet so it is really great to just maintain it this way.
