[PENANG] BeĀngels Specialty Coffee @ Tree Square Plaza, Tanjung Bungah
Penangites are definitely familiar with this café that has been in Island 88 (formerly Island Plaza) for ages. Little did I know that BeĀngels Specialty Coffee has actually had a branch at Tree Square Plaza, Tanjung Bungah, for over a year. I recently visited the café and tried some of their signature items.
Pandan Sangkaya Toast(RM13.00) is definitely the dish to order when you visit BeAngels. This has been their signature and best seller since they were in Island Plaza and up until today they are still maintaining this delicacy on their menu. You can tell how much the diners appreciate this.
This is not our regular Kaya, but it is the Thai version with stronger Pandan flavours which makes the dip tasted much better.
I also tried their Granola Yoghurt Bowl served with strawberries — super refreshing and just the right amount of sweetness. The crunchy granola paired nicely with the creamy yoghurt, and the fresh strawberries gave it a nice fruity kick. Perfect if you're looking for something light and wholesome.
For all the healthy food lovers out there, you should definitely give their Grilled Chicken Healthy Bowl a try. It comes packed with juicy grilled chicken, fresh greens, and a mix of wholesome grains that make it both filling and nutritious. The flavors are clean and satisfying — perfect if you're in the mood for something light but still hearty.
Smoked Salmon Salad
The Seafood Tom Yum Pasta (RM34.90) was a delightful surprise, especially when I discovered that the pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente texture. The bold and tangy tom yum sauce added a zesty kick that made the dish incredibly appetizing, striking a satisfying balance between creamy richness and spicy, citrusy notes. It’s a creative fusion that works surprisingly well for both pasta lovers and tom yum enthusiasts.
Another standout dish was the Smoked Duck Aglio Olio (RM24.90), which instantly won me over though I might be a little biased since smoked duck happens to be one of my all-time favorites. The pasta was perfectly al dente, tossed in a fragrant mix of garlic, chili flakes, and olive oil that gave it a nice kick without overpowering the star of the show. It’s a simple yet flavorful dish that delivers comfort with every bite.
"If you're into brunch classics, their Eggs Benedict is worth checking out. Perfectly poached eggs sit on toasted English muffins, topped with creamy hollandaise sauce that’s rich but not too heavy. It’s a solid choice for a comforting, satisfying start to the day.
The Halibut Pesto (RM45.90)was another highlight — tender, flaky halibut served on a bed of aromatic pesto sauce. What really made it stand out were the crispy bits sprinkled on top, adding a nice crunch that balanced the soft texture of the fish. It’s a flavorful and well-executed dish, especially if you’re a fan of herb-forward flavors.
I’ve always been a fan of eggplant parmigiana, but this was actually my first time trying the chicken version — and I’ve gotta say, it didn’t disappoint. The Chicken Parmigiana (RM28.90) was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and topped with a generous layer of marinara and melted cheese. It was served with a side of fries and greens, making it a hearty and satisfying meal.
