Wang Thai Restaurant @ Pulau Tikus Penang

Have you been looking hard for a nice Thai Restaurant in Penang?
Have you found a nice one yet?
No? Let me recommend you this one!
Wang Thai Restaurant, which is located Jalan Burmah, Pulau Tikus Penang.
The owner recruited workers and chefs from Thailand so that their Thai food is origins from Thailand!

You can see Wang Thai Restaurant from the moment you cross the busiest traffic in Pulau Tikus.

Even the menus are full with Thailand feel!

They have this special package for CNY 2013.
For a period of time only

The designs of the restaurant gave people a kind of  "home" feeling, they are in Thai style as well.
I really love this part of the restaurant

Ok let's get back to FOOD!
Pla Kra Pong Neung Manow
(Steamed Fish with Lime & Chilli Sauce)

Price: RM38
This dish is so damn appetizing and delicious!
It just made me feel like taking another spoonful of soup after another! We all just can't stop drinking the SOUP!
Yums! High recommended!

Kar Moo Tod
(Deep Fried Pork Leg)
Price: RM27
Oh god! There goes my diet plan!
You just couldn't resist this when it serves right on your table!
Even from just looking at it, it made you feel like taking a bite!
Dip it with Wang Thai's homemade Thai chilli sauce just made this dish more perfecto!
Highly recommended as well!

Yum Woon Sen
(Hot & Spicy Thai Glass Noodle Salad)

Price: RM14.90
Thai version of salad, an appetizer that brings you to the mood of having Thai food!
The spiciness of this dish just woke my tongue up! Making me asking for more Thai food!
Must try!

Hor Mok Talay
(Steamed Seafood Otak-otak with Curry Paste, Fresh Coconut Milk and Basil)

Price: RM23.90
Oh yums! This is my first time trying Thai version Otak-Otak, which is full of seafood and other herbs.
Unlike our local Otak-Otak, which has got nothing much ingredients in it.
Every spoon tasted so good, it is quite spicy that made you don't feel like stopping once you have taste it!
Must try!

Tom Yam Goong
(Spicy Thai Tom Yam Prawns) THICK
Price: RM24.90
How can you missed Tom Yam whenever you visit Thai restaurant?
The prawns are fresh and kinda huge, this dish is worth paying for!
And the thickness of the soup is just so nice for a Tom Yam lover like me!
I remembered that I drank quite a lot of soup on that day, it is so nice!
You can also choose clear Tom Yam soup if you prefer it that way.
Highly recommended!

Gai Hor Bai Toey
(Pandan Leaves Chicken)
Price: RM3 per piece
If you think that this pandan chicken tasted like those outside ones, then you're absolutely wrong!
The pandan leaves chicken here tasted rather juicy and soft, unlike those hard and dry ones.
And it tasted so good that I wish I can have more! Love this dish!
Highly recommended!

 Gaeng Phet Moo
(Red Curry Pork)
Price: RM12.90
This dish is a little bit too spicy to me, but it tasted good!
It is pork fried with red curry paste, and it is so hot!
You must order this if you think that normal chilli padi is too normal to you!
Must try!

We always have empty spaces in our stomach that are reserved for dessert!
And of course, the best and famous dessert of Thai would be their mango rice!

Khao Neow Mamuang
(Thai Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango)
Price: RM9.90
Wang Thai's mango rice is so good!
The mango is sweet, fresh and the rice is so yummy topped with fried green bean.
Don't forget to order the LARGE ONE!
Highly recommended!

Tub Tim Krob
(Chilled Water Chestnut with Jackfruit and Fresh Coconut Milk)
Price: RM4.50 per bowl
This is also one of the Thai desserts that you shouldn't miss out!
Their self made coconut milk and water chestnut went well with fresh jackfruit.
You will feel very much chilled after so much hot and spicy thai food with this cold and refreshing dessert.
Highly recommended!

Other than normal ala carte dishes, they also have set lunch menu to target those busy workers.
Price range is from RM10.90 to RM12.90, drinks are not included.
Come over and try!

The 10% discount on Citibank card given by Want Thai is a lie. Originally, I wanted to pay cash so I requested for the bill. As they were preparing the bill, I was the banner, 10% discount on Citibank card user. I then decided to pay via Citibank card. If pay by cash, it is RM121.40. I told them I decided to pay by credit card instead of cash. I received my bill and it is still RM121.40 except now, I noticed they put in 10% service charge and minus of 10% discount??? What is this? If unwiling to give 10% discount, don't advertised it.

Thanks JJZai for your write-up and compliments.

Dear Anonymous,
Just to clarify on the 10% discounts, we did indeed gave all our patrons using Citibank card a 10% discounts on the total bill charges (which is inclusive of the 10% service charge).

For your information all our bills are added 10% service charge as practice by all restaurants. This is clearly indicated in our menu for transparency.

There is no bogus in this promotion as our patrons will definitely pay lesser by 10% after discount as compared to before discount.

We will be happy to give a discount to you again if there is a discrepancy on your bill. We sincerely apologize for the bad experience you had on the bill charges.

Please let us know on your next visit and we will treat you with our signature Tub Tim Krob.

Thanks for your feedback and we will definitely improve in our next promotion.

Sincerely,
Fenny (Wang Thai Restaurant)
