Flavours from the Mediterranean @ G Cafe, G Hotel Penang

It's been a while since I last attend a buffet food review.
It was such an honour to be invited to one of the top hotel in Penang, G Hotel to try our the buffet that served at G Cafe.
When I talk about food review for buffet dinner, it is usually very filling and variety of choices, not to mention that this buffet is from a 4.5 stars hotel.

The buffet theme in G Hotel is different everyday, and this time I attended the Thursday buffet, which is "The Flavours from the Mediterranean"
The themes of G Cafe are as below:
Monday – Mongolian Barbeque Dinner Buffet
Tuesday – French Bistro Dinner Buffer
Wednesday – Oriental Delights
Thursday – Flavours from the Mediterranean
Friday – Seafood Feast BBQ
Saturday – Steak & Lobster BBQ

I would say that G Hotel has the best lobby among all the hotels in Penang ever.

G Cafe is located next to the lobby, there are outdoor and indoor seating for their customers.

If you are a smoker, you may take the outdoor seating and you also get to enjoy some fresh air as it is surround by plants

The indoor seating are very comfortable with nice setting and good ambience

It is suitable for just a small gathering, or maybe a bigger gathering. G Cafe can caters more than 100pax at a time.

Let's starts with some light appetizer, there are prawns, mussels and scallops, they are pretty good as it look.

There are also salad bar and other chef's speciality

Only the appetizer itself has more than 20 types, from seafood, to meat or vegetables. 

You just gotta try them all. 

Ham and Salmon, simply delicious!

All of them are cooked in Extra Virgin Olive Oil, healthy and nice!

Another favourite of mine, all types of cheese!

The Emanthel Cheese and Brie Cheese is really good!

You can have them with biscuits of breads that are provided.

Highly recommended!

Here comes all the main dishes, there are rice and noddles for you to choose.

The main dishes are even more variety, you can try them all by having a bit from each dishes.

But it is rather filling too!

One of my favourite dish for the night was the Duck in Orange Sauce.

I never expect duck would taste good in orange sauce, it was kind refreshing and appetizing.

Soups, vegetables, meats and etc.
You can get to try all sorts of food in this buffet them, all cook in Mediterranean style, combination of Spain, Greece, Italian style. Not something that you get to try usually around Penang, but now you can try them all in G Hotel. Sounded good isn't it?

 There are also some ready made pizzas and other finger food, try it while it is hot!

Other than that, you also can pick your own ingredients and ask the chef to grill it for you, there are prawns, squids, salmon and other meats

The chef can grill them to perfection for you

There are also Daily Carvery and Daily Noodle, that night was featuring Baked Salmon and Fried Pasta

The pasta are available in 2 types of sauce, cream sauce or tomato sauce.

They are really good and you can choose your own ingredients to cook your pasta.

This is also one of the specialities for the night.

One whole side of fresh salmon to baked with chef's special made sauce, it was so good and juicy

Highly recommended!

Another favourite of mine! Chocolate fondue! 

This is what I always expect in buffet dinner!

Fresh fruits, mash mellows and all those to dip in chocolate sauce!

Did I tell you G Cafe's main chef is the best award winning chef for his specialty in cakes?

There are many desserts here that made by his own, and they have won him a few awards.

Some recommended cakes are Black Forest, Linzer Tart, Rasberry Opera and One bite cheese

There's is this Candy Corner at G Cafe that you can get your ice cream, and add your favourite toppings or candies, G Cafe serves only ice cream from Gelatomio

Those mouth watering desserts are really killing me!
I've tried most of them in one night!

Just my favourite, fruits that topped with CHOCOLATES!

The experience was really good in G Cafe, I have never expect that the choices are more than what you can have. Remember to come to G Cafe with empty stomach, or bring extra stomach if you can.
Paying the price is worth than what you are going to have.
So choose your favourite buffet theme and call for booking now!
